Barry Michaels was born and raised in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Roman Catholic High School and Temple University. He spent his high years in the high school band and a small cover band playing at school dances.
He grew up listening to the Good Guys at WIBG (aka Wibbage), the Boss Jocks at WFIL (Famous 56) and Jerry Blavat at WHAT-AM which sparked his live long love affair with broadcasting. As a teenager he attended The Geator’s record hops at The Cathedral and Wagner’s Ballroom in Philadelphia.
His radio career includes stints at WLDB (Atlantic, City, NJ), WBUD (Trenton, NJ), WCOJ (Coatesville, PA), WNPV (Lansdale, PA), WFYL (King of Prussia, PA), WIFI (Philadelphia) and with American Forces Radio in West Germany while on active duty with the US Army.
He has also exercised his entrepreneurial spirit owning several businesses including ice cream parlours, advertising agencies, legal services and an antique auto sales and restoration business.
In his off air hours he enjoys car shows, photography, video production, history trips, selling stuff on eBay and adding content to YouTube.
He looks forward to connecting with the WISL audience and hope listeners enjoy his afternoon program weekdays from 2 PM to 5 PM.
