The 4th of July holiday weekend usually means block parties, fireworks and summer fun. This year it mean so much more as Shamokin’s 150th Anniversary Celebration came to a close. Thousands gathered in downtown Shamokin for a parade that stretched over two-miles in length. There was live music on Independence Street, great food, games for the kids and the grand finale fireworks display to wrap it all up.
WISL Radio was on hand for the celebration and part of the action with the historic WISL studio display in the parade. From Mummers to Coal Miners, Our Shamokin Band to heroic Veterans, Shamokin pride was riding high for the 150th.
As we remember all of the fun we had the weekend of the 4th, let’s not forget the celebration continues all year long!
So Happy Birthday Shamokin and congratulations on 150 amazing years!
We hope you enjoy some pictures we took of the parade action from Independence Street!
